extras not working - who should I talk to?

After many people complained I decided to disable my extras-devel and
extras-testing repository and found out that the package is not on extras
for some reason (even showing on the web site).



As you can see here MyContacts is supposedly available on extras:

http://maemo.org/downloads/product/Maemo5/mycontacts/



But if you try to search on the Application Manager or click on the
"install" green arrow it does not work.



Many users have complained about it.

It is in the Extras repository on the server:

The green arrow works for me on my N900 as it starts the Application
manager, the "Preparing for installation, please wait" progress bar and
finally the "Install - Crochik MyContacts 0.9.13-1 1,9MB" dialog.

Would you mind posting yours so I can compare?

With these contents if I run:
apt-get update
apt-get install mycontacts

This is what I get:

Package mycontacts is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package mycontacts has no installation candidate

On the application manager I can't see it.

tried.

So yes, I can confirm that when only Extras is enabled mycontacts does
NOT get displayed in App Manager.

No idea what's going on.

It seems there is a promotion issue with non-free apps from testing to
Extras fremantle-1.2. This path is not well tested as there aren't
that many non-free apps in Extras.

Will try to find out what goes wrong exactly.

Just a wild guess: isn't it just a matter of having the file on
http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle-1.2/non-free/

Instead of (or in addition to):
http://repository.maemo.org/extras/pool/fremantle/non-free/

??

I imagine you are looking for a "long term" solution but would be nice if
there was also a "quick and dirty" solution so users don't get "lost" trying
to install the app.

The quick and dirty solution would have been overwritten the next time
the sync runs, so that was not an option.

I've found and solved the blockage for non-free apps in fremantle-1.2.
Your app should now be available.

Thank you! I just tested and was able to find the package and install it
using the Application manager with only the "extras" repository enabled.

p.s. I am trying to add a comment to the "downloads" page to say that the
problem has been fixed but can't. I assume it is because I was the last one
to comment on it. Am I right? Would you (or anyone else) mind adding a
comment there for me?
