I'm wondering if this app works in any N900 out there... In my own N900 didn't work... waste of time... I hope in the future with new firm N900 can play youtube videos in the native browser...
okay, as described in http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=37026&page=3 'apt-get install wget' should do the job. Please note that it is not my fix, it comes from Jan-Philipp Litza, I only wanted to show a easier way to install it. Updating the package in repos itself would be the best way of cause...
With the fix of Michael everything is fine. wget seems not to be preinstalled however. I just downloaded the file with the browser.
Thanks for the work!
Hello Owen, to become root act like described in http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=33911. This means after you installed rootsh you have to type "sudo su" to become root in xterm.
The wget-command should be pre-installed.
For further questions I recommend you to use the mailing-list maemo-users@maemo.org because this is the proper place to handle this kind of problems.
I tried the fix suggested by Michael Rosch above, I used the rootsh download as I have no idea how to "become root" in Xterm or anything else for that matter and it seemed to work. Everything seemed to be fine until I tried teh "wget" command but this came back with "wget not found". Can someplease suggest a solution to this as I would like to be able to use Zoutube. Thanks, osi.
Jan-Philipp Litza: Thanks a lot for the fix which works perfectly! Let me just mention that it's quite difficult for unexperienced users to download the archive and unzip it on the n900. I recommend a easier way:
The last command is important otherwise zoutube can not be started.
Thanks again for the nice work!
For a fix to the problem, see http://github.com/zaheerm/zoutube/issues#issue/7/comment/365671
Think this would be fine if there wasn't this bug: when I try to download or play a movie, nothing happens after pressing the button. Started from xterm the output looks like this:
[PLAY-Button]
Traceback (most recent call last): File "/opt/zoutube/zoutube", line 661, in on_play_clicked fmt = YouTube.string_to_format(self.format_picker.get_value()) File "/opt/zoutube/zoutube", line 145, in string_to_format return formats[s] KeyError: ''
[Download-Button]
Traceback (most recent call last): File "/opt/zoutube/zoutube", line 666, in on_download_clicked fmt = YouTube.string_to_format(self.format_picker.get_value()) File "/opt/zoutube/zoutube", line 145, in string_to_format return formats[s] KeyError: ''
I am using PR 1.2 - please tell if I can offer further help, testing etc.
I've downloaded the last version from Extras-Devel and it doesn't work. When i select a video the application hang-up and i have to kill it.
Also, would be a nice feature, if is possibile to login to user account with the option to select subscription o favorites.
Anyway, thanks for the work.
Unfortunately, this application has refused to work with the new firmware. I used to love it.
Doesn't play any video on my device.
Not a bad youtube client , just that the application crashes a lot of times .
Edit (to previous post): works very fine today, so it must have been some other issue that caused it to crash to other day.
Looks fine. But doesn't seem to work. It connects, buffers, and then ... nothing.
Until yesterday I could watch and download the videos from youtube (in a very good interface, that I like a lot). But now I update for the new version and the download is not working. Or I'm missing something obvious in this updated version?
Je suis plus Dailymotion mais cet application est assez fluide en Wi-Fi.
Par contre, en 3G :S...
doesn't download on my n900
it's was ok when I had installed it but now when I try to download, it open micro B but not the download manager. I tried uninstall/reboot/install...
Makes YouTube a lot more fun to browse. Thanks.
Nice app! :-) is it possible, a full screen without navigation buttons like the Media player?
Fully-functioning nice application, that I use every now and then, but I don't seem to be able to view or download anything except the low-quality versions of the videos. Any chance of betting higher resolution available, maybe just for downloads?
Works great!!
Excellent; much better than using YouTube in a browser.
Superb! Elegant and light weight. Would love to be able to define, prioritize, and save searches below the "Top Rated" line.
AP, Al Jazeera, CBSNews, and Reuters to name a few would be nice.
Good app, works well, yea - full screen w/o the bar would be nice.
Nice app, with a few improvements it will be just perfect.
This is step in the right direction. As everyone else mentioned, full screen and account log in will make solid additions to the program. Now if we can get someone to build a Pandora app that works like this one!
A bit buggy seeking and missing fullscreen mode. Otherwise nice youtube client.
Good work, all I miss is the login to my channel.
Thank you for this app. Very needed. Plays videos with no hiccups. I too would like to see the addition of a full screen with no progression bar.
Very good YouTube client. The interface is great. Only things I'm missing is browsing multiple pages of results and a fullscreen mode without progress bar.
just a perfect youtube client. what i really love is that there is a download function. thank you for that ;)
Easy to use. Light weight and simple.
Simply start typing to start a search.
very useful app and fast , interface ok
nice work, able to download videos it's fantastic. Can u add the log in to our channel?
Brilliant YouTube client. Finger-friendly, easy interface, and it works well.
