Hi all,

I've heard back from three out of the five council, so I'll take that as a majority.

I've sent a card to Tracy “from all Gary's friends in the Maemo Community”.

Hopefully by Monday we'll know more about what Tracy wants by way of tributes/donations/etc. If flowers are allowed, I'll send a small floral tribute from the community as my contribution. Then I'll ask her quietly whether she would prefer donations to go to charity or whether she'd appreciate a small collection for herself and the boys. It will be possible to send Charity donations by cheque in pounds sterling via the funeral director once we know which charity. If that's not what Tracy wants, we can organise something via my paypal account for those who trust me.

We should also have details of the funeral by Monday or Tuesday. If anyone is near enough and wants to represent us, that would be brilliant.

I'll keep you posted when we know more.

K

Kathy, I definitely agree that you are the best person to send a card on behalf of the community.

I'm not a big fan of flowers, but I would be glad to contribute to some kind of monetary gift to Tracy. It must be really hard for her; it can't be easy to suddenly become a single mom, and I don't think they were well-off to begin with.

Is there somewhere we as a community could safely contribute money online? Kathy, do you have a paypal account? If not, can you set one up?

Hi,

+1. I was shocked to hear what has happened. You certainly have our support to arrange, or help arrange whatever you think would be the most appropriate - card, flowers or other.

Best regards,
Attila

Hi council,

I have Gary's address. I don't want to publish it online, obviously.

I would be happy to pass it to you, or equally to send a card on behalf of the community if you felt that was appropriate. I don't want to overstep.

It might also be good to arrange a collection for people wanting to send flowers or donations in memory for Gary. I'd be happy to do this if people trust me, or co-ordinate with one of you.

Thanks

K

Thanks Kathy for your action in this. I'm away at Maker Faire and a bit
incommunicado but what you say sounds good and trust your judgment even if I
don't have an opportunity to chime in to voice support.
