N900 as secondary display

Posted on 2010-03-17 06:32 UTC by Janne Palo. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Utilities.

I would like the possibility to use my N900 as a secondary PC monitor.

I know there are Remote Desktop apps but this is not what i need. What i need is a app or mod to get the PC to identify N900 as a 800*480 lcd (touchscreen) monitor, where i could extend my desktop (windows, linux, osx, all wich have multiscreen support). This would add hundreds of possibilities to N900 + home PC usage.

get MfE (Mail for Exchange) to auto connect and disconnect to internet on a schedule

Mail for exchange is great. however, the battery on the N900 isnt. i dont want to have to be connected to the internet all the time to sync exchange as the battery drains like crazy. i would like to get a synch done say every half hour. i would like mfe to auto open a connection to the internet (which connection to use can be based on a preference list - see below) on a user definable schedule, and then sync everything, then close the internet connection.

No easy way to know if you have unlistened to voicemails.

Phone app: call forwarding

Posted on 2010-03-24 17:57 UTC by Dan Söderlund. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Other.

When you put a call on hold, call a second one and then want to connect the two and disconnect youself, you press "4 + send" or something like that. I'ts some kind of standard 3G net function...and it's used in the swedish operator Tre in their Switch service. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on the N900.

I had a chat with Nokia/Tre where they explained that this possibility is NOT implemented yet om the N900.

ANT+ support

There exists a protocol named ANT+ which is touted as a low power wireless sensor network. Many devices use it, in particular bicycle computers and heart rate monitors. It apparently uses frequencies in the 2.4GHz band. I know there are many transceivers in the N900. I was hoping one of them could be made to work with ANT+. Even though I am a developer, I have never worked with wireless protocols or RF in general, so I thought I would ping on others here before going on a wild goose chase.

Some Linux software already works with the protocol using a USB adaptor that is basically an ANT+ to serial adaptor:
