get MfE (Mail for Exchange) to auto connect and disconnect to internet on a schedule

Mail for exchange is great. however, the battery on the N900 isnt. i dont want to have to be connected to the internet all the time to sync exchange as the battery drains like crazy. i would like to get a synch done say every half hour. i would like mfe to auto open a connection to the internet (which connection to use can be based on a preference list - see below) on a user definable schedule, and then sync everything, then close the internet connection.

Mail for exchange is great. however, the battery on the N900 isnt. i dont want to have to be connected to the internet all the time to receive emails as the battery drains like crazy. i would like to get a synch done say every half hour. i would like mfe to auto open a connection to the internet (which connection to use can be based on a preference list - see below) and then sync everything, then close the internet connection. it may be neccesary to close the connection after a set period of time if you have a lot of emails coming in - if they come in every 30 seconds or so the connection may always need to be alive, so have a definable cutoff point for a maximum connection time. this will enable us to have fully synchronised mail and calendars and contacts and a handset that doesn't die after 4 hours. Connection choice is based on a simple weighted preference list from known networks i.e. so i can make a list like 1) My home wireless network 2) my work network 3) my favourite coffee shops netwrok 4) my vodafone mobile network if 1) isnt available, try 2, if it isnt available, try 3 etc. this way i always get the best connection available.
