"Day picker" could be replaced by a true "Date picker" (Calendar view) in Maemo 5

Posted on 2009-12-29 17:02 UTC by Luis Soeiro. Status: Under consideration

Whenever the user needs to pick a date the system (Maemo 5) presents three vertically scrollable lists: DAY, MONTH and YEAR. There is no hint of the day of the week. It looks very unintuitive and very unpolished. It looks like a programming placeholder for a real date picker that wasn't finished on time for launch.

Not enough functionality for Ad-Hoc connections

Posted on 2009-07-12 15:39 UTC by Sébastien Gendre. Status: Under consideration

There are not enough functionality available between Maemo-Devices connected to HAD-OC.

For exemple:

- Sharing of multimedia files (audio, video and photo).

- Send files via WiFi and / or folder sharing.

- Communication via Jabber / XMPP to HAD-OC without the need to account.

- Game.

- Send a "favorites" (favorites Internet link, favorite RSS flux, etc ...).

How about being able to rotate an onscreen image in the photo viewer by dragging one of its corners around. This is a common requirement in taking photos adn would show off the touch screen

Wifi-based Proximity Profiles

It would be very useful to have a setup which allows your profiles to change automatically based on your location. Obviously this isn't practical by using GPS because that'll suck the battery dry, but since most people will have wifi on permanently, it might be possible to use that instead.

Additionally, it would be pretty swish to have the device automatically open and close applications based on these profiles. Other changes could include ringtone/vibrate, power settings, gps on/off, bluetooth on/off, etc.

Simply, the device could be set to activate profile A (vibrate, calendar, calculator, VNC, bluetooth, etc) when connected to, say, work_wifi_network_abc, and then deactivate when it is no longer connected. The device may then activate Profile B (ringtones, bluetooth, music, etc) when connected to home_wifi network.
