Hello, maemoers!

The battery of my N810 lasts a day after reflashing it with Diablo
version 4.2008.23-14.

Really I don't know why this happens. I've googled and seems this
problem is reported in several places.

Moreover, after a full recharge, I've flashed it, put the device in
offline-mode and removed the MMC card.

Without using the device at all, after one day it powers off due to lack
of battery.

I've repeated the process several times, even uninstalling all programs
that comes with flash, and no luck.

Any clue about why this happens?

What packages you've installed on top of it?

This usually means that some process in the device is waking up
at about second interval (which doesn't really show up in top
unless it does also something else).

When the device is in offline mode with MMC out, if you run "top" in
XTerm, does anything else besides the top, xterm (maemo-launcher) and
Xomap show up using *any* CPU?

What if you disable all Home applets and close all applications
also (if you already haven't)?

Have you added multimedia (audio, video) files to the internal
memory card?

Do you have the R&D mode enabled? It can drain the battery in a day.

It can? Previous information has been that R&D mode on its own (i.e.
without enabling the serial console etc.) has no effect on battery
life; and solely enables `sudo gainroot'.

What does "plain" R&D mode do which affects battery so greatly?

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

None. As I said, I've reflashed it and nothing more. Even I've tested it
by uninstalled applications that come with flash. No luck.

No, nothing.

After reflashing it, I've powered on device, and left in standby-mode. I
didn't open any application, nor aplet.

No. Even I've formatted the internal card to have nothing.

Sure? Yes, I've R&D mode enabled. But I've been using that mode in
previous flashes, and never had any problem.

And that should still hold true, afaik

Nothing unless somebody had the bright idea to hook something to the
plain R&D mode flag. Which i really hope is not the case.

Kimmo: can you please detail?

RD-Mode is an interesting one. All enabling it does is set a flag in the
CAL. The bulk of what happens in in /mnt/initfs/linuxrc and
/etc/rc2.d/S99ttyusb0 which just read that flag and do things if that flag
is set.

I don't know the details. Disabling R&D mode would at least eliminate
the possibility.
