GPS not locking

I find my N 900 has suddenly developed this problem of not locking GPS.

Tried running maemo mapper as well as modrana.

Left it outdoors overnight (for hours) with internet ON. Still it didn't
lock.

Changed the location server from supl.nokia.com to supl.google.com. Didn't
help.

Only thing that changed on the device in recent days was receiving a
couple of updates of modrana. But I hope the app won't damage the GPS
system.

Any clues, any things that I can try out to check whether GPS is working?

Can't believe this. I disabled location server completely and it locked
within seconds. Then I re-enabled location server. It again blinked for a
few seconds and locked again ...

Since I had tried two different location servers before, perhaps this is
an issue with software on the device?

Does my internet provider play any role in location server determining my
location? Then the fault could be at that level also.

Maybe the new location server setting is taken into use when you disable and re-enable location server?
