Time interval DSLR signals

Posted on 2010-01-12 12:39 UTC by Vinay Gupta. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Utilities, Devices.

This idea is just an extension of an existing app by twaelti - Shutter. (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39693&page=2)

This extension (or new app) would provide an user interface to set interval and number of shots to be taken at each interval. Some examples below:

1. 2 shots to be taken after 3 minutes have elapsed since the last shot.

2. 1 shot to be taken after 1 hour has elaspsed since the last shot.

This would just replace the need of expensive time interval kits for many cameras and also provide interval photography options to camera without inbuilt options ( the D300 has interval photography options but not the D90).

If you look at practicality, it would be a stretch as it would require the N900 to be in line of sight of the camera at all times. But still its an idea.

No option for Full or Limited character support in SMS

Posted on 2010-01-02 12:38 UTC by Iker Rodriguez. Status: Waiting

SOFTWARE VERSION:
1.2009.42-11

EXACT STEPS LEADING TO PROBLEM:
1. Tap on Menu > Conversations > New SMS
2. Tap on plain field for the virtual keyboard to appear
3. Select Greek
4. Type in Greek uppercase or lowercase
(Greek language should be activated in N900's settings for the virtual keyboard
first)

EXPECTED OUTCOME: Virtually transform the message to uppercase and send it as
one of 160 characters

ACTUAL OUTCOME: Sends multiple messages of 70 characters

REPRODUCIBILITY: always

EXTRA SOFTWARE INSTALLED: none that could affect the issue

OTHER COMMENTS: This problem existed in previous Nokia devices, until Nokia
activated the option of "Limited character support". For example, in a previous
phone such as N97, you could select Limited or Full in characters support, in
messaging settings. When you select Limited the phone virtually transforms
Greek to uppercase characters and every message contains 160 characters. This
option is NOT available in N900.

SIM toolkit

Ability to access the SIM toolkit services. In N900 this menu is not available and many provider services do not work at all.

rSAP (Remote SIM) support for N900

Posted on 2010-01-03 09:42 UTC by Zilvinas B.. Status: Under consideration, Categories: User Experience, System.

rSAP (or SAP) is used for mainly Nokia carkits. Many European manufacturers as Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Mercedes have it on their cars. The carkit connects to the phone, copies the SIM data, then puts the phones own transmitter into offline mode and uses the data from the sim to bring online it's own transmitter. For increased reception, lower battery usage on the phone and great voice quality. Great service.

There have been number of entries on bugzilla (5204, 7182) and talks (34027, 31962, 35756) about this. This just has to be part of Nokia N900 bluetooth profiles.

It's really sad that N900 (Maemo) doesn't support this bluetooth profile out-of-the-box.

Sleep Timer for N900

Posted on 2010-01-03 17:26 UTC by Christian Straetz. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Media, System, Devices.

Hi Guys,

I really hope I get this right because it's my first "brainstorm" here. I used the Search-Function but couldn't find a brainstorm already proposing my idea:

What I really would appreciate for my N900 Phone is a Sleep Timer "shutting down" the phone after a certain time.

I have to admit I have no clue how difficult this would be it's just so annoying using the phone and those brilliant onboard speakers at night with the problem that i have a N900 with empty battery the next morning.
