Time interval DSLR signals

Posted on 2010-01-12 12:39 UTC by Vinay Gupta. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Utilities, Devices.

This idea is just an extension of an existing app by twaelti - Shutter. (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=39693&page=2)

This extension (or new app) would provide an user interface to set interval and number of shots to be taken at each interval. Some examples below:

1. 2 shots to be taken after 3 minutes have elapsed since the last shot.

2. 1 shot to be taken after 1 hour has elaspsed since the last shot.

This would just replace the need of expensive time interval kits for many cameras and also provide interval photography options to camera without inbuilt options ( the D300 has interval photography options but not the D90).

If you look at practicality, it would be a stretch as it would require the N900 to be in line of sight of the camera at all times. But still its an idea.

Solution #1: Use 3.5mm audio jack

Posted on 2010-04-14 12:07 UTC by Timo P.

Not sure if it is possible, but at least in theory if there is an ability to short circuit by software two pins of audio jack, you don't have to keep n900 in front of the camera all the time.

Pro: you can operate behind the camera

Con: you need modified cord.
