Add a wiki direct link to the menu of maemo.org

Posted on 2009-12-08 14:20 UTC by Carlos Navarro Garcia. Status: Waiting, Categories: maemo.org.

Hi

The maemo wiki is quite useful but I found it quite hidden in the site.

Why is not moved to a menu item like : Intro, Downloads, community, development, news and Talk?

The only way to get to the wiki main page is in community, Get Help, Use  the wiki...

Just an idea.

Need a app to monitor rootfs consumption

Posted on 2009-12-10 05:13 UTC by Tusar Nayak. Status: Waiting, Categories: System.

My apologies if this idea has been suggested before.

Its a fact that we can't stop end user to install non-OPTfied packages, which results into info banner 'Not enough memory in target location' after installing few of non-OPTfied applications. So, for the benefit of user, can we make an application which will inform user about the rootfs usage by different 3rd party applications and suggestions to remove those overburdened applications.

I too technically challenged, might have understood above stuff wrongly. please excuse.

Add maemo 6 support for Nokia N900

Posted on 2009-12-13 19:41 UTC by Juanjo Marin. Status: Waiting, Categories: Marketing.

A Nokia's official statement about this can help to give more confidence to users and future users that their devices will not be get prematurely old. Because not all the software stack is free, Nokia is the only one which can make a sentence on this direction.

The lack of this statement from Nokia is perceived from users as "Nokia N900 will not support maemo 6". I asked this question on the IRC and I was told that this support is not on Nokia plans. If the answer is yes, an statement from a relevant Nokia employee can be enough.

Desktop toolbar -> Bluetooth should differ from Bluetooth settings

Posted on 2009-12-18 12:17 UTC by Florian Boor. Status: Waiting, Categories: User Experience.

The Desktop Toolbar Bluetooth dialog is the same like the one of the Control Panel. Basically a good idea, but using the toolbar you usally do want totoggle power and discoverable mode only. Why would you want to change the device name here... I would suggest to drop this entry if the dialog is opened from the toolbar. This could confuse people who are not used to Bluetooth and/or do not want to mess up with the name anyway.
