Visual voicemail or the ability to save voicemails on the phone would be an incredibly useful feature. In many countries listening or retrieving voicemail costs money and is not quick or easy.

Brainstorm is really confusing

Brainstorm - section is like dark science. There is no real way tracking ideas, progression of ideas, popularity of ideas, etc.
Randomly surfing to brainstorm gives an impression that nothing never changes. Something must be done to make brainstorming even little appealing to non-developers. You go and vote, after that: nothing. Then you could try to memorize how many votes was there 2 weeks ago... err...
Tracking ideas brainstorm: http://maemo.org/community/brainstorm/view/watching_brainstorm/
Popularity of ideas can be solved via brainstorm item:http://maemo.org/community/brainstorm/view/add_voting_for_the_actual_ideas/
And better start page: http://maemo.org/community/brainstorm/view/landing_in_brainstorm/
This idea is for further improvements. So solutions concerning things above, please put them in right place!

I have for a very long time wished for a GUI where an image of the contact that sent you the message popped up. Well now Motorolas new MotorBlur has that feature.

The Motorola Droid has a "smart dock" that will put the phone into an alarm clock mode, as well as a car dock that will automatically launch the navagator application. It might be possible to do something similar with a Maemo device using the micro USB port.
Call log (record) limited to 30 days

The N900 call log (record) is limited to only 30 days. This should be either unlimited, or there should be at least an option to enable unlimited logging.
