Comments:
totally agree : more friendlyness would be nice ...
This script does wonders! :D But it should be more user friendly. Esp. give the user some feedback after having launched it.
Thanks Steven for sharing what you've discovered. The fact that power returns to default after changing frequency should be written in the description of the package. This script is not very user-friendly. Anyway, thumbs up
It's a shame this isn't a user configurable control provided by Nokia. Since it was not, this may be clunky, but it does do the trick. Regard, It must be invoked while the FM transmitter is and every time it is turned on. Also, if while transmitting you decide to change your transmit frequency or plug in the charger, power levels will fall back to their original setting. FM-Boost must then be invoked again.
BTW, this is a simple script to be used as a stop-gap to compensate for the short comings of the device, as shipped. In a perfect world it wouldn't be needed and I hope future Firmware builds will make it obsolete.
Thank you Alan.
Is the description "Script to boost FM TX to 118" end-user friendly? I don't think so :) This package also is not using an XB-Maemo-Display-Name, just the package name, which is also not end-user friendly.
How about putting this in debian/control:
XB-Maemo-Display-Name: FM Transmitter Range Extender XB-Description: A script to boost the range of the FM transmitter.
