IRC client, Maemo flavour. similar to AmIRC for the Amiga. Special features include the mIRC extension DCC RESUME and mIRC color, multiple server/channel windows, dialog windows, and a plugin API.

also for me a must have, i prefere irsii but xchat is better for maemo, oh man i LOVE xchat

This is a "must have". I get sentimental when I type this: Xchat was the first application that, when I installed it on my 770 in 2006, showed me the full potential of the Maemo platform (probably it was a different port then; anyway...): There it was, the very same desktop application I use on all my computers, in all its glory.

There's still some hickups in the user interface (and that's why it doesn't get all the 5 stars from me), but this doesn't limit its usefulness. Even today it's one of the first applications I install whenever a re-flash was necessary (or when I get a new tablet). And while I prefer the RTComm Beta telepathy-idle plugin now for short chats, Xchat is still the application to fire up when a chat session gets longer.
