Repositioning Modest SEND button

Posted on 2009-09-20 11:27 UTC by Aniello Del Sorbo. Status: Implemented, milestone: Fremantle, Categories: User Experience.

The SEND button in Modest, in Fremantle, is inside the scrollable area of the mail view.

This means that the button will scroll up as you type more text in your reply and you've got to scroll all the way up to reach it and tap it to send.

I think this is annoying.

Solution #4: Ctrl-Enter

Typing Ctrl-Enter sends an email in the main desktop email clients, so why not in Maemo.

Solution #1: Tool bar at the bottom

Posted on 2009-09-20 11:31 UTC by Aniello Del Sorbo.

When Modest is configured to reply in HTML it shows a toolbar with few buttons for changing font type, fonts and so on.

There's space for a SEND button.

When Modest is configure to reply in Text only, it does not show any toolbar at all.

I think we can definitely have a toolbar here as well with a SEND button in it.

As there will be plenty of space, we can add, don't know, a switch to HTML mode button?

But this is a different brainstorm idea.

Modest is OSS, we can do it.

Solution #2: SEND button overing over the window

Posted on 2009-09-20 10:17 UTC by Aniello Del Sorbo.

The SEND button could also appear overing over the edit window much like the fullscreen button overs over the browser windows.

When typing it'll be out of the way, as soon as you move the window it'll appear.

Again, we can do it.

Solution #3: "Send" option in the application menu

Then sending is never more than two taps away.  BTW, this is also bug 4841.
