Nokia N900 Needs a commercial ebook reader

Posted on 2010-01-12 02:51 UTC by Hugh Caley. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Media.

There are currently no commercial ebook readers (an ebook reader that can read DRM content) available for the N900.  And we cannot rely on the old standby that any Linux program is potentially an N900 program since there is no commercial ebook reader for Linux either ;)

Pandora/pianobar GUI

Posted on 2010-01-02 03:24 UTC by adam steele. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Media.

Pandora is an online radio service similar to last.fm. They are fairly 'closed source' and don't have an API available (unliked last.fm). A program called pianobar has been written which gives a CLI interface to Pandora. It has been ported to the N900 already and works rather well (much less resource hungry than running the flash based webpage).

What is needed is a simple "finger friendly" GUI wrapper to the CLI pianobar program.

This is a fairly simple project. Someone with the proper experience could bang this out in a weekend.

Maemo_5_media_player-Sleep_timer-Gapless_playback

Posted on 2009-12-16 07:15 UTC by Michael Sander. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Media.

Maemo 5 media player enhancements:

1) Sleep timer implementation: Turn off the media player after a set time of x minutes

2) Gapless playback implementation: Allow the uninterrupted playback of consecutive audio tracks without intervening silence or clicks at the point of the track change

I'm not a developer, so I have no clue how to actually do this.

Better Media Player binding with File Manager

Posted on 2011-07-14 08:30 UTC by jie luo. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Media.

It would be better if the filemanager can choose which application to play a video:D

Im confused with smplayer, as its complexity scare me away; and the default media player cannot play some videos, also unable to choose play audio only.

Better to have a simlified mplayer frontend or just let the file manager to play video with it.

Maybe make a "Preview-based" file manager as cool as possible?

Port gnome-mplayer to maemo

change the default media player backend to mplayer?
