PrBoom 2.5.0-svn20091231-0maemo2
clone of the legendary first person shooter Doom
Doom is a 3d shoot'em'up game, written by id Software, first
released in 1993.
PrBoom is a version of Doom using the Simple Direct Media
layer (SDL) library, which enables it to use XFree86, OpenGL,
Linux framebuffer console, GGI, SVGALib or even color or
monochrome text consoles as display. There is an additional
OpenGL renderer as well.
PrBoom is based on MBF and LxDoom, which in turn are based on
Boom, a freely available port of Doom for DOS, written by
TeamTNT (http://www.teamtnt.com/).
PrBoom requires an IWAD to play. A free IWAD is available
in the freedoom package. You can install your commercial
Doom IWADs using game-data-packager.

Comments:
Works as advertised, nice keyboard layout and clever hack for non-QWERTY users. Looks well optified. Thanks for an old favourite!
Undoetunately I noticed that the default kb ayout does not really work on my finnish(nordic) keyboard n900.
Still works with custom binding as I did first though.
Sweet, one of my favourite games on the N900 and seems to be working just fine. The original play style is great for a mobile too since you don't need to aim vertically.
thanks!
Thanks for the reports.
Mustali: the default shareware WAD includes the first 7 (?) levels as the original Doom release did, and there should be badguys through the first door. Put it on the hardest setting and you shouldn't even need to go through a door.
When you say it's processor intensive, do you mean compared to other high action and first-person shooter type games or just in general?
Pauli: I had a problem with it the very first time i ran it, but then it worked fine. Hopefully more people without native arrow keys will test and report.
You and me both think it would be nice to not need a global layout switch! Hopefully Nokia provides a utility function to bind a specific keyboard layout to a single program, or something similar.
Ok, started working after dpkg --purge and removing the config files; probably something was left over.
Works ok now, and not much to complain, although in the long run it'd be nicer to not need a global kb layout switch to get the arrow-equivalent keys to work.
It switches now the kb layout to US automatically (which is fine), but for some reason doesn't recognize the Enter/Return key... Can't enter the game without this.
