Applications Tested on Internet Tablet OS 2007 Edition

On this page you can find a list of applications dedicated for IT OS 2006 Edition that have been tested to run on IT OS 2007 Edition.

Applications that work

These applications install and the basic functionality works. In some cases additional libraries are needed for installation to succeed.

  • Grsync

  • Streamtuner

  • Minimo

    • Status: Works fine in general

    • Sites tested to work OK: maps.google.com, backpackit.com Sites not OK: www.ajax13.com

    • The applications is a bit unstable. Eg the new yahoo.mail page crashes it etc.

    • How to install:

    • Install minimo from Application Manager.

    • But first add the minimo repository to your list off application catalogues i.e. configure the minimo repository to your Application Manager using following parameters:

    • "Repository" field should be "http://home.ufam.edu.br/~agan/minimo/" "Distribution" field should be "mistral/"

  • mweather

    • Status: Does not work. It causes the device to go into an infinite boot sequence once restarted.

    • How to install:

    • Install mweather from Application Manager.

    • But first add the maemo extras repository to your list off application catalogues

    • i.e. configure the repository to your Application Manager using following parameters:

    • "Repository" field should be "http://repository.maemo.org/extras/"

    • "Distribution" field should be "mistral"

    • "Components" field should be "free non-free"

    • Status: Seems to work fine

    • Status: Works fine, basic functionality of adding/editing/grouping/deleting/ contacts works

    • Status, installs and works fine. some text areas are missing borders, but seems to be same situation on sputnik also.

    • status: Works ok, with basic functionality. adding/editing/deletin * status: Works ok, with basic functionality. adding/editing/deleting. No crashes in 20 minutes.
      *Update: crashes consistently when loading a subscribed-to online calendar. Bug report has been filed.

    • status: Works fine. Basic functionality tested and works

  • Application GPE Sudoku

    • Status: Works fine.

    • Howto install: Straight from deb.

  • Application GFrotz

    • Status: works fine. Tested a few minutes of Zork III.

    • Howto install: straight from deb.

  • Application ScummVM

    • Status: works fine. Tested with "Flight of the Amazon Queen", mp3 version.

  • Application Other Maemo Weather

    • Status: works fine. Some minor UI problems.

  • Application Maemochron

    • Status: Basic uses cases tested and works fine. Events are not thoroughly tested.

    • Howto install: First install Python 2.4 and then Maemochron deb.

    • Problems: I had problems with this - it starts to load but then nothing happens. I installed python2.4, python-hilden and python-gtk2 from mistral using dpkg -i - probably needs more python debs. (gpd)

    • Status: works fine

    • Howto install: straight from deb.

  • Application Tuxpaint

    • Status: works OK

    • Known problems: Entering letters (Abc) does not work, saving an item does not work

    • How to install: First install SDL Library (SDL_ttf) and then install Tuxpaint .deb

    • Status: works fine

    • Howto install: from Tableteer (preconfigured repository) or extras repository (mistral)

  • Application X Terminal

    • Status: Works

    • FYI: There is another version of osso-xterm which is not compatible, if you are having difficulty installing osso-xterm:

      • Disable all other repositories except for repository.maemo.org
      • Refresh the package list
      • Look for osso-xterm without a stylized logo

    • Status: new version for N800 is available

  • Application ssh

    • Status: Works.

    • How to install: Add same repo as for X Termina, then activate red pill, update list and then choose ssh from the list

    • Status: Preliminary tests show that it works. Basic LAMP server setup using thttpd, sqlite, php runs simple test scripts including phpinfo(). PHP is run in cgi-mode from thttpd needs helper script to avoid 'No Input File' problems. thttpd settings need to be changed to turn off chroot option.

    • How to install: Work in progress. php-5.2.0.tgz compiled in scratchbox with PCRE, sqlite support. XML gave problems with build. Check on #maemo for more info.

    • Bora Version: Built for bora.

    • Status: Works.

    • How to install: Directly as a deb package.

  • Application vpnc

    • Status: Works. Requires a reboot after install though. Been online for 30 mins over UMTS so far.

    • Status: Works (tested with liblzo1 version)

    • How to install: Version 1.4-3 is currently in the maemo.org repository in the "free" section for bora.

    • Status: Works.

Applications that do not work

This list of applications do not install properly, or after installation the applications do not function as they should.

  • Application Tuner

    • Status: Instals OK; cannot be started

    • Known problems: In starting; nothing happens

  • Application Ogg Vorbis Player

    • Status: Will install, but won't run. The application appears in the extras menu, but will not start when selected.

  • Application MPlayer

    • Version "mplayer_1.0rc1-maemo.8_armel.deb" from maemo garage works just fine. Nice speed improvement from the previous versions.
