Many voip plans come with sms at a much cheaper rate than is offered by mobile network providers. The downside to using web sms is that sms's sent through the web interface and not stored with other sent messages and arent included as part of conversations.

A solution to this would be to create a telepathy plugin to send web sms through a telepathy plugging so that web sms's are treated like normal sms's.

External program on the device. Putting sent messages in the sqlite database for sms's.
Would use voip providers web interface for the sending of sms.
