Solution #1: Provide as an option

Provide this as an optional setting for those that want it, since some will prefer it to the default of waking up the touch interface on an inbound call.

Solution #2: Use proximity/light sensor
Posted on 2009-12-15 22:22 UTC by Craig Woodward.
The same proximity/light sensor combo used to prevent accidental screen presses when held to the head could be pre-sampled before the touchscreen is enabled. If the phone is in a dark or close proximity to something the screen lock option could be on by default. This prevents calls from being answered inside a pocket or bag.
