Currently there is no Turn by Turn Navigation in Ovi Maps. However, this is an essential feature for a Navigation application. The only question is how should this be implemented.

Nokia should implement free turn by turn navigation on OVI. Although it’s a difficult decision for Navteq, it’s better to make it now, while in the position of world best map supplier. The model should be; the users add corrections and traffic information to the available maps.

Solution #3: Turn by turn should be built into the device

My Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx has turn-by-turn built into the device (along with a many other useful navigational tools). There is no subscription fee or other charge for this feature. In addition, all the maps are stored in the device on a memory card. All of North America fits on a 2GB card. Nothing needs to be downloaded for navigation.
The only cost of ownership of this and hundreds of other GPS models is the original purchase price of the device plus the cost to license a set of maps. North America maps costs about USD$100 one-time and about $75 every two years to update.
