I believe that float mode is used to give MicroB more of a desktop and full web experience. Given that, I also believe that due to the small size of the screen and how small can some elements in webpages be, the button to disable float mode can hinder the full web experience.

This would be an effective, simple and intuitive solution. You would swipe from left towards the screen to show the enable button and when in float mode, you do the same gesture to show the disable button.
