A good point was brought up about counting external karma. It's unfortunate, but advocacy outside of Maemo is just hard to count. Ideally, Nokia would Just Know what you've done to discuss or even promote the platform. What can be done to help Nokia Know?

When signing up with a cell phone provider, it is sometimes possible to name a person who recommended the service to you. Both you and the promoter get some money back on the next bill.
This can be applied to Karma. When somebody purchases an nokia internet tablet or registers it, they should be able to name a few people who helped get them to buy it. They will get a small karma boost (to help get them to do it) and the promoters get a bigger one.
