The N900 does not have a feature to record calls. This could be useful to users. For example: Your wife called you to buy the groceries. With this recording function you can simply click on the record button to record the conversation then play back the conversation to listen to the item needed by your wife.

If the phone app is not open source and Nokia don't wish to add call recording, and if there are suitable framework components such that that a separate utility can hook into the call system, then such a utility could be written.
This would be similar to the solution "Build recording functionality into the phone application", but instead of there being a button in the phone app to start recording, there would have to be some other kind of mechanism to start recording. Other than that, this could be similar to the other solution, including (if the framework allows) automatically stopping recording when the calls ends, automatically naming the file, etc.

A "Record" button could be added to the phone app UI, which would start recording from that point. It should automatically stop the recording when the user ends the call. It should also record in mp3 or aac format for clear recording. The recording could be given a filename automatically (maybe based on the contact name or number, plus a date) and could be played back in the media player.

It is addition to solution 1. Add possibility to record all calls. Now we have prety much memory on N900 and we can do it. Additionally I have seen program for S60 for total recording.
