The Brainstorm has own comments so people can discuss the proposals and ideas presented. In practice through the fruitful and lengthy discussions tend to happen in talk.maemo.org since it's a place designed just for that. The result is confusing: double discussions not always connected and some frustration at the end.
Having different logins for Brainstorm (stock maemo.org login) and Talk (formet InternetTabletTalk) doesn't help.

talk.maemo.org is a great place for discussion, so let's discuss there - removing the comments from Brainstorm altogether. Yes, the double login is a pain but any t.m.o. is encouraged to have an account in maemo.org and viceversa. Single Sign-On is work in progress at the moment. And yes, by now the linkage should be done manually... so what? Create the thread and link it from the proposal text. If this idea is preferred more automated solutions can be implemented later.

Using the own Brainstorm comments for discussion helps keeping everything in the same place. Sure, Talk threads tend to get higher participation and more length but... does it mean that this bring more signal to the proposal being discussed? Talk tends to create too much noise and it's totally fine to have less comments and more effort concentrating on just listing the right solutions and vote them.

Let people choose between Brainstorm comments and Talk discussion. As long as the Brainstorm proposals are well linked to the related Talk threads and viceversa there is no strong need to force people to comment here or there. At the end what counts are the ideas proposed and the votes. Those starting the proposals and generating the ideas under vote should be careful enough following the discussions and taking the useful bits to improve the ideas listed.

A thread creator may have an idea within a thread, and then start the Brainstorm based on ideas shared. So there should be the option to link a Brainstorm to an already created Talk thread or link a Talk thread to an already created Brainstorm.
