Add Scrollbar in addition to kinetic scrolling

Posted on 2010-02-11 17:08 UTC by Markus Berchtold. Status: Under consideration, Categories: Desktop.

Even though the kinetic scrolling works fine, sometimes in long lists/pages/content it is not easy to get where you want to go fast.
You have to flick your finger a couple of times.

Lets say you have 100 folder (images for example) and need to find something and you dont know if its in folder 80,81,82. In file manager you end up flicking and flicking till you are in folder 80. If you dont finde it there you go one folder up and the flicking flicking starts again.

Solution #1: Add a small scrollbar on the right

Posted on 2010-02-11 17:09 UTC by Markus Berchtold.

Where the space is reserved for the scrollbar (now it actually shows when draging where you are) you add a functional scrollbar.

As seen in this shots

Icons with arrows would work like this.

clicking would move the page up and down a bit

double clicking would move all the way to top or bottom

Solution #2: Show scrollbar when swiping from right side

Posted on 2010-02-11 17:17 UTC by Markus Berchtold.

A scrollbar could be shown (maybe semi tranparend) when you swipe your finger from your right side (outside) the screen to the middle.

Solution #3: Small Scrollbar and Swipe

Would actually be a combination of solution #1 and solution #2.

Standard small scrollbar on the right, when you swipe you get big semi transparent.
