Using Keyboard Arrows for games

Posted on 2010-11-13 13:32 UTC by Pang Zi Yang. Status: Waiting, Categories: Games.

Since the n900 is a resistive touchscreen, multitouch can't be supported

Instead of using on screen D-pad, why not the developers program the game so that we can use the Arrow keys on the keyboard and also maybe the buttons for the games itself too.

I have seen it done on the PCSX emulator..

So why not?

It would definitely bring in more game developers such as Gameloft and Glu

Application dedicated for offline flash games

Posted on 2010-04-16 09:57 UTC by Robert Micallef. Status: Waiting, Categories: Games.

Sometimes flash games lag on the web browser. What if someone designed an offline flash player dedicated solely for this reason? It could have the simulated mouse by default (the one where you have to drag from the left in the web browser), and performance of these games might increase. The N900 has an advantage of support of millions of  flash games, but without GPU support (flash 10.1 hopefully), a lot of games lag. BTW I have no skills to do this. This is just an idea. Hopefully a good one.

OpenAL HW accelerated implementation

Posted on 2010-01-30 15:40 UTC by Oriol Farràs. Status: Waiting, Categories: Games.

OpenAl is the most used sound api for game development on unix like platforms. A good HW accelerated implementation for maemo is needed to be able to run games at good performance with 3D sound. It will help to the portage of games/software that use OpenAL.
