J2ME yes, but that's far too big for the 770. You could run the
Blackdown J2ME for ARM.

Concerning J2ME it would be nice but due to the quite bad licensing from
Sun the community cannot do a port of it (it would have to be qualified
by Sun before redistribution and qualification is quite epensive).

But you might try to get one of the free VMs to run, like Kaffee, Jamvm,
Sablevm, etc...
