If you have a feature request for the maemo platform this is the right place to push it to the maemo roadmap. The Nokia folks take this page as primary channel for community feedback in their roadmapping process. Everybody is invited to discuss and develop the proposed features.

Write your proposal in this wiki (recommended for major features) or bugs.maemo.org (small enhancements) and then link the page in the lists below. A good feature proposal consists of a catchy title, brief description, justification, proposed timing, introduction of the promoter and support received + all the details you want.

• scratchbox install for debian-based distros should use repositories

• Java
• Bluetooth PAN
• DSP EAP_* function header/information
• provide system management software under free software licenses
• Broader support for Unicode (including complex scripts such as Khmer and other Indic scripts)
• Active Connection Switching
• Text-to-speech as a service (e.g. flite) for other apps (preferably DSP accelerated)
• Speech recognition (e.g. pocketsphinx) as a service.
• CJK (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) support out the box. At least provide the fonts to render properly webpages, e-mails and apps menus. But would be much better to integrate a good input method as scim in the tablet ( take a look to http://maemocjk.garage.maemo.org ).
• Tablet to PC video calls
• Camera support to Flash plug-in
• Microphone made into an ALSA (and/or OSS) device
• "Advanced calibration" of the touch screen, including software boosting the pressure values being sent to applications.

Applications

• Port Nokia SportsTracker to N8x0
• AutoSleep: Sleeping the device after defined time interval. (Power saving in cases of unintentional sleeping while listening music etc.)
