Nice emerge tool-chain with its dependency control is much far advanced as outdated Debians apt and repositories.
The difficulties could be given by some drivers, those are not open sourced (like WLAN), so this will be a problem.
First step is to try stage-0 inside of scratchbox.
Using NetBSDs pkgsrc could be probably easier (this i'll try too). However pkgsrc repository is same outdated as Debians repository.
