ApplicationCatalog2007Wishlist

  • Lyx word-processor http://www.lyx.org

    • Free VoIP. Why not an Ekiga if Google Talk by now only runs on MS OS? Ekiga has lots of possibilities.

    • KeePass Password Safe

    • A Calendar (possibly GPE) supporting usable audible alarms, that can wake the device up. Work going on this. See ical

    • Support for the PowerVR MBX chip (extremely unlikely, I know, but I can dream...)

    • Perl

    • Better Flash Support for Web 2.0 apps Such as Iscrybe, Jott, etc..

    • Support for the Sony Playstation 3 Bluetooth remote control when watching videos

    • gvim (The clasical text editor)

    • kate (Kde Advanced Text Editor)

    • Apache

    • PHP5

    • Postgresql, at least the client librarys.

    • java runtime enviroment and java

    • PocketSphinx (speech-recognition)

    • gpesyncd for new GPE-Calendar 2007

    • gpe-timesheet! the rest of the GPE works on 2007 but that is the last piece of the solution

    • RE the previous two requests: AFAIK this works - I use it! http://cleardefinition.com/page/Sync_Evolution_and_GPE_on_N800/ -- RP

    • An FTP Client

    • An HTML (and CSS) Editor (with coloring)

    • A PIM application that can be bi-directionally synced with google calendar and gmail contacts. Working on this. See ical

    • An encrypting memopad application, like IQNotes on OpenZaurus: http://iqnotes.berlios.de/

    • I would like to possibly be able to use a bluetooth headset with VOIP (gizmo project)

    • An ogg vorbis player would really be needed. A gstreamer plug-in is fine if the bundled media player supports gstreamer.

    • Emacs!

    • Ogg Theora video codec or player

    • FLAC codec and/or player

    • Camera and videorecorder software using N800 build-in cam.

    • a port of CorePlayer (formerly TCPMP, the core pocket media player) for maemo

    • Version of AbiWord for 2007 - including plugins for import/export doc and opendocument formats, and export to pdf

    • Working on it - see Internet Tablet Talk ("megabyte405") for updates. --RP

    • A Powerpoint / Openoffice.org impress file reader (imposter.sourceforge.net ?)

    • Pdftk, with gui

    • a Gnutella p2p client

    • Anagramarama - the anagram game

    • Battle for Wesnoth

    • An addition to any of the applications using "sketch" (or "sketch" itself) so that a calendar and alarm can be attached to the "sketch" and have it pop up at the designated date and time - much as in the Palm program known as "BugMe". The alarm should work even when the device is shut off and the program should also have an easy way to reset the time for another 30 minutes, one hour, etc. - as a reminder. The object being to be able to use the program as a quick reminder system for fast notes - like " call bob", "pick up milk", etc.

    • I would like good PIM applications similar to what is available on Palm OS. Currently there are no non Windows OS devices that are as feature packed as the N800. Having PIM apps would definately cause a large portion of Palm device users to switch.

    • Developers have requested that instead of saying "PIM", that specific functionalities or applications be requested.

    • IPv6 Support

    • TinyFugue

    • "GAIM" - Available at http://gaim.garage.maemo.org/ or the "Maemo Hackers" repository, see ApplicationRepositories.

    • Ktorrent

    • PodNova/Juice Receiver

    • VSPainter is a great app for WM5 devices that would be an amazing add.

    • NXClient - Remote X-Sessions on speed, cups printing, tunneled SMB shares, Multimedia-Support etc.

    • Simple SIP client to be able to use a multitude of VOIP providers.

    • Support for synchronizing the internal Evolution Data Server with an external LDAP server for contacts. Alternatively, the ability to import LDIF files in addition to VCARD files.

    • Bluetooth Headset Support

    • Printing to the network printer (LAN & WLAN) from all most every program.

    • Inkscape, a simplified version of Inkscape, or simply a drawing program which uses SVG as its native format and has a similar tool set, particularly the calligraphy tool.

    • The ability to sync data/PIM information (once they are developed) with a linux computer smoothly. After all the Nokia n800 is a linux based device.

    • Doable: search the web for "N800 Sync" - http://cleardefinition.com/page/Sync_Evolution_and_GPE_on_N800/ --RP

    • Java Developer's Kit and Netbeans IDE

    • Power48

    • LyX - a text editor using TeX for typesetting

    • Xkbd-btHID - A software implementation of a Bluetooth HID Keyboard. This will turn your NokiaN800 into a Bluetooth keyboard. - Available at http://www.mulliner.org/nokia770/ or the "MUlliNER.ORG" repository, see ApplicationRepositories.

    • Midnight Commander

    • fsck.vfat (I can't believe it wasn't already there. With frequent FAT corruptions, especially away from home, this is essential!)

    • Xoscope: An oscilloscope for portable measuring of voltages and currents

    • Jokosher: A multitrack recorder for music production on the go.
