Ability to store SMSes on an IMAP folder would be nice. I consider SMS a different priority than IM. IM I tend to just wipe when I don't need it. SMSes I'd like to keep for a longer period.
As my imap server gets backed up daily this makes it the nicest way of doing it.

Simply provide a context menu entry on an SMS that would link it to modest and give an option to store the SMS there.
On first invocation it would ask what folder and on which server to store it. This should be settable from a settings menu as well.

Messages have to be available when internet connectivity isn't, so storing remotely isn't always viable. Instead, have a configurable sync option for SMS messages that can sync them to/from an IMAP folder. Alternatively, support syncing SMS messages via something standard like SyncML, and storing them in an IMAP fodler become's a feature request for the SyncML server.
