The meaning of this brainstorm is to find out what features in N900 should be usable when device is held in portrait with single hand. Point is to find out what are the most important things to get working in portrait mode and see if there are ways to implement those.

Add an portrait mode for the build in media player.

It would be useful to be able to navigate the menu in portrait mode, especially as more and more apps begin to support it.

The N900's PR1.2 adds portrait mode to many standard apps, but unfortunately it has to be enabled each time they are executed with CTRL+SHIFT+R. The calulator is one such app, however, whilst most other work fine, the calculator just squashes up it's buttons and loses the labels on them.
