Please use the on-device image installer for best results.

Max, click the words "big image file" in the description. It's a hot link to the bzipped tarball of the image file.

Just perfect! I have found no real cons. Debian apps are a little slow but its because N810's hardware parametres.

I am under the impression that some people have managed to make the sound work within this app, say from iceWiesel or say if you install Rhythmbox, but I cannot find any explanation on how?

This is the single most useful package for the pro user of the Internet Tablets as we know them :-) VLC won't work though, as other video programs. But true pearls like openoffice.org work beautifully, given that you wait for them to open. I've used also other nice applications like rlplot (a scientific graphs editor), the firefox browser (as iceweasel), other browsers like midori and kazehakase, without forgetting the gnome alsa mixer, which will satisfactorily boost the volume of your tablet audio output.

Installing should not be a problem but the performance is not that good (speedwise) even if you install it just for openoffice.

I use notes and google-docs for docs, there's a good spreadsheet that opens most files created by other softwares including xlsx http://mobilevdr.garage.maemo.org/gnumeric.install

Hope that helps!!

I really like this thing because it comes with a java enabled browser which I am still missing on maemo. Unfortunately, java only works within the virtual machine for me so far. In general the entire vm is a bit sloppy and the ui is not yet as tablet-friendly as I hoped. However, it's also possible to start apps directly in maemo without launching the vm and the apps are a lot more performant in this mode. Overall it's "not quite there yet" but a great thing to have if you can spare the space :)
