Am not sure about that, but I believe that dnsmasqd isn't restarted when a VPN connection starts or ends.

If possible, openvpn-applet should restart dnsmasqd or clear DNS cache in another way. Not cleaning the cache causes problems with Akamai and other location-aware services. For example, repository.maemo.org is akamaized and resolves differently when the location (as in "provider") changes. In general, using the "old" IP is suboptimal and may not work in some cases.
