Comments:
Thanks for bringing up this topic. :-)
Sigh, I get the feeling that we have too many wiki pages on the same topic stating different information... Thanks for explaining!
I've brought it up here: http://lists.maemo.org/pipermail/maemo-community/2010-August/004380.html
@Andre:
The QA checklist (http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-testing/QA_Checklist#Lack_of_bug_reporting_database) also CLEARLY states that email addresses are valid only for small limited-functionality projects such as wallpapers/themes.
As mentioned in comments by both Mustali and Andreas, they consider the application feature-rich enough to require a thumbs-down for lack of a full bugtracker. I'd say on that basis they have read the rules, but perhaps clarification and agreement on where the line should be drawn on "small projects" is needed, as clearly their interpretation is different to yours.
http://wiki.maemo.org/Packaging#Bugtracker_location CLEARLY states that an email address is a valid contact for bugreports. So if any tester uses the non-existance of a "proper" bugtracker (Garage or Bugzilla) as an argument to vote a Thumbs Down: Please stop that and read the rules.
On the "auto start". I jumped the gun here. So many people asked me about it and the solution seemed easy enough ... I will publish a new version fixing this behavior and whatever I can get done quickly.
@Mustali: It is not that the number is not recognized correctly. You are probably missing some of the settings on the "call/sms route window". Most likely some of your numbers are "international" (start with +) and some don't. Each group has different settings. Please let me know if this is not the case
First, I forgot that I had to come here to start being notified about comments - just did today by accident and saw all the comments.
@Mustali Dalal: - I don't know how to set the bugtraces but will work on it. - thanks for the (buttons) screen shots. - the phone number is not always recognized as cell because of a bug (outside mycontacts) that I have already reported - most likely is a bug with the "standard contacts application" - typos...typos...typos... - WAV is the only format supported
I also agree that the app is complicated enough to demand a proper bugtracker.
The auto-reboot feature was implemented because a lot of users (myself included) requested it at the TMO thread. However, most people just wanted the widget to reappear on startup (so that it doesn't need to be re-added every time) and the author has said he will try to implement this (only widget auto-startup, not main app). In its current state I agree the startup could be confusing and should perhaps be disabled by default.
And Mustali: perhaps it is not mentioned anywhere else (than in the thread) but the only supported audio format is WAV.
@Emanuele, the app is configured to launch at system start-up. In order to stop this, the Shutdown option must be selected.
This is highly unusual behavior and will surprise a lot of users used to expecting their desktops instead of a contact-list.
Having a large feature set and being closed, the lack of a proper bug-tracker would be a blocker.
I do like the snappiness and scroll-acceleration in the Phone-list.
