Comments:
Not showing ICQ contacts after clicking on "New IM message" under Conversations app ... used to show them in 1.1 ... the contacts are correctly shown in Contacts app though ...
Not only ICQ support is broken, it a) does not uninistall correctly b) blocks "pidgin protocol support for contacts and conversations" installation. So once you stepped in, you get icq support broken FOREVER.
Remaining problems: - connection troubles for MSN/AIM/ICQ - Facebook still not migrated to jabber (that would solve much troubles)
This package just create a lot of confusion IMO, I'm voting thumbs down.
Using Yahoo I have some problems with the status message. My status should show my location but there's no status the first time I go online. Changing status to busy and then back to online updates my status with the location.
Gadu Gadu After then I make restart my N900 ... availability marker don’t work! I open some of contacts and I see GG number my friends.. But.. Connection link between my GG account and all contacts are gone... I can manually establish link by clicking on each contact and in their card… select GaduGadu button and when I get dialog box I need to select my GG account number.
Other problem after restart is that when I get message from my GG friends, on my N900 desktop in notification message I see Name and Surname but in conversation window I have only GaduGadu number not Name or picture....
Issues with Facebook:
1) If screen name is anything other than the email address used for facebook - it comes up with network error and won't connect.
2) Reloads entire conversations (all messages appear from the contact, even your own) when relogging in i.e. switching from wifi to 3g etc.
3) Contacts will unmerge themselves from master contacts, and have to be remerged, and if you do not delete the old ones in the master contact then you end up with lots of entires all for the same FB ID.
MSN works perfect for me :)
so far i only tested the facebook protocal, works really good. I like it, it only adds ppl from my active friends list, wich is good. However had some problems recieving their status message. Only few were visible.. also history feature needs to be removed. keeps bouncing old messages back..
1) when i first injstalled it i got messages i sent boucing back to me as if the contact i was talking to copied the message ... no longer happens for me now? 2) IMPORTANTLY - when i merge a facbook contact inot my phonebook contact all ok ... but after a restart the facebook contact will reappear again ..... the contact i had in my phonebook will now has 3 facebook details in their signin (as i have tried the merge 3 times) otherwise great app
This works great for the other protocols I've tried, but Facebook seems a little problematic.
My specific issue is with contact merging. It appears to use the contact "nickname" as the key, but if this doesn't match duplicate facebook contacts appear in addressbook and after a few attempts the contact you're trying to merge into may have many many facebook fields.
I think that * A lot of people will try the facebook plugin if this goes to extras * Their expectation would be this would work, it could cause real confusion as is.
For this reason I'd vote NOT to promote the current package to extras.
Why even if I delete a contact, from the server, it still appears on the next access with name "no name"? Pretty annoying.
Seems to work great. Could you add an image for MSN account? You know, the one that appears next to the green circle when you are avaiable.
MSN and Yahoo work great, there is some weirdness with how facebook messages get delivered but overall it works very well!
