@Ed - You can play the game without changing the layout, you just need to configure the keys that you want in the supertux confs.
I only managed to play after I changed keyboard layout from Russian to English/Netherlands. I'm not considering this as a bug, because English is a real keyboard layout on my device. However many Russians are using devices with English layout and phonetic xkblayouts to be able to type Russian. And this requires setting Russian as a hardware layout in control panel. So, it would be nice to be able to play this game without changing current layout.
@ Niko - You need to configure the keys that you want in the game confs.
Still up-key doesn't work while using Finnish-layout.
I have a German keyboard layout on the N900, which has no up/down arrow keys, so with the previous version (supertux-stable_0.1.3-1.1maemo11) I was affected by the issue discussed here (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=412530&postcount=15) and could not play the game.
This version (supertux-stable_0.1.3-1.1maemo12) has fixed the issue. I customized the keyboard layout for supertux and tested the first level and everything seems to work fine.
