Comments:
Thanks Stefanos. http://shopper.garage.maemo.org/help.html may help. Nokia removed the online help from Fremantle and I forgot to add it to the 'About'.
I think the reason you are not seeing your new category is because you went into "out shopping" without picking anything to buy :)
"Out shopping" means you've left the house and gone to the shops. I don't think a lack of a local translation is a blocking bug. You'll be pleased to know that Shopper is localisation ready so if you'd like to do a translation I can include that.
Yes; there should be a way to start an empty list - but that's a feature request. Not a blocker.
The Qt warnings are not critical but I hadn't noticed them. I'll see if I can clean them up.
While the idea is very good and the general concept of the app is also very good, it is practically unusable because of bugs/problems.
I tried for 15 minutes to create a new list by removing everything and adding one category but the category never showed up.
I also get this:
QLayout: Cannot add null widget to QVBoxLayout/ QCoreApplication::postEvent: Unexpected null receiver QLayout: Cannot add null widget to QVBoxLayout/
when removing all categories.
Other error: X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 20 (X_GetProperty) Resource id: 0x0 X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3 Major opcode: 20 (X_GetProperty) Resource id: 0x0 QLayout: Cannot add null widget to QVBoxLayout/
Also, there should be a way to start with an empty shopping list, without categories.
The menu itself is not very user-friendly too. What "out shopping" means? What "make list" means and why there are 3 checkboxes? What "choose shopping" means.
It would be better if the app had a "help" menu entry instead of predefined items. There you could explain the whole concept and the user interface.
p.s. I'd love for this app to be usable. It is something that many people need. A shopping list is something I always had on my phone, even in the form of a simple note.
