RaeMote Apple Remote 1.3
Apple Remote for Mac Mini, MacBook and MacBook Pro
This desktop widget provides a virtual Apple Remote
that can control Mac Minis, MacBooks and iPod docks.
If this package is not working after installation,
please re-start your device in order to complete the
installation of the Python Desktop Widget Support and
the IR transmitter helper applications.
In some cases, QtIrreco could have damaged the file
/etc/lircd.conf - if this is the case, please remove
all lines from this file so that the only line in it
is this: include "/opt/raemote/apple/codes"

Comments:
When raemote is uninstalled, lircd is not stopped (lircd is started by raemote)
Works now after having removed and readded the widget.
Couldn't get it to work with my white 13″ MacBook (built 2007). Anyone got it working there? Any kind of pairing that needs to be done first?
You forgot to update the about screen. It still says "Version 1.2 (2010-03-20)"
Very cool app, works well on my Macbook Pro! Very well done :)
I'd recommend to change this to become an app rather than a widget though (at least optional). Reason is this widget takes up about 1/3 of a screen, and isn't used too often (at least by me). I'd like to keep the functionality on my phone, but not spend all that desktop space (and also battery power) for it... Just my 5 cents.
