Indeed, TIFF is a wrapper format and uses 8:8:8 RGB or 8:8:8:8 CYMG, which means that the data has already been demosaiced and debayered, making it no a RAW format (negative). Tiff should be implemented in an image viewer.

Also, +1 (with one observation: long press is very hard with finger, because the contact point moves a little when pressing. Flawless with pen though).

@Ossi Pena - I may be wrong, but doesn't *.TIF stand for TIFF files? Which, in my knowledge, are not RAW files and therefore not handled by the underlying RAW decoding library of MRAWViewer.

*.TIF is used at least with Canon EOS 1D (mkI)

@Tomasz - That's a bug in the package interface, check the name in the App Manager :D

We know it's "For Maemo", the name is definitely too long.

Complete list of supported cameras is included in the About dialog. Anyway I've added a filter to the Open Image dialog based on an hardcoded list of file extensions. Actually these are: "PEF","DNG","NEF","ARW","CR2","CRW","RAF","DCR","MRW","ORF","SRF","SR2","MOS" If anyone knows about other file extensions which should be added (ie: raw files produced by any one of the supperted cameras, but with different extension) please let me know.

Is anyone keeping a note of the various RAW formats that have been tested and the results compared to say Adobe's utilities?

I can sort some RAW files from a couple of Canon's and Fuji to provide some variety. Anyone needing any then just PM me here on on Forum and I send them over.

Are you sure you've installed version 1.0-maemo7 (the one in extras-testing)? I've just received my N900 and it works, while the latest version in extras-devel (1.1-1) segfaults.

Works. Not being able to get back from fullscreen is a bit irritating. Tap the screen for fullscreen as attila says would be good. Automatic rotation would be nice too. The whole thing could be a plugin for the standard image viewer if it supports plugins.

XB-Maemo-Display-Name should say "RAW Viewer", now it's more like a description.

Zooming in / out is already in the works!

works nice, would be cool to have some zooming

ctrl-space not too apparent and needs the keyboard to exit fullscreen mode... maybe tap to unfullscreen ?

I've uploaded some sample RAW files. You can find them under the Downloads section on this project website here:

I'd love to test this, but I need raw images. Any URL or something in mind? No, I don't have a camera. :-/

Main changes since previous version in testing (1.0-maemo4):

  • Added bug tracker and homepage url field to debian/control (by the way, the Homepage doesn't show in maemo.org/package interface even if it's in debian/control)
  • Added Ctrl+Space keyboard combo to toggle fullscreen mode on or off
  • Added package optification to debian/rules
  • Changed filters in app menu from radio to toggle buttons
  • Added fullscreen / unfullscreen filter to the app menu
  • Added support for autogenerated app screenshot
  • Added an horizontal separator to the About dialog just after the copyright
  • Removed "Quit" button in AppMenu as it duplicates the functionality of the [X] button on the MainWindow
  • Automatically display the "Open Image" dialog when starting

Since this is the first optified version of this package, you cannot upgrade from previous version, but you need to uninstall it first.
