Comments:
If possible debian packaging could be used as starting point here too http://packages.debian.org/lenny/openjdk-6-jdk
I second the remarks by Emanuele and Riku
Java itself works fine, but:
Command line icon missing. It is needed to tell people who are not familiar with unix that this application needs special knowledge to be used.
short description is not enduser-friendly. "This package installs.." is a silly way to start a desription. Perhaps something like: "OpenJDK Java runtime, ARM(tm) optimized version".
The current full description belongs to debian/copyright file.
Remember that these descriptions need to be understandable by non-technical people too.
I understand debian/ubuntu versions of openjdk now come with icedtea-plugin for browser, is it going to be included some day?
A Java 6 JDK on the N900, and it's optified. Now there's Java on the N900. Neat! :)
