No, when you browse the app repository for new apps to install there is no icon next to your program description, but when you installed the app, there is your icon for launching the app

I don't have the actual device. Can you be more specific? When installed, the app is not in the list? Is that what you see? But you can start it from xterm?

Your app icon does not show in Program Manager, but for app starting it is shown. Maybe take a look at confmgr. There it is the other way round.
