Comments:
@Graham Cobb:
GPE Filemanager is nice for snooping around the filesystem. The built in file manager will only show the user documents folder.
However, GPE Filemanager does not seem to show files with "special" names, such as filenames beginning with a dot. This makes it less useful since there are som folders inside the user folder that begin with a dot. Would it be possible to change this?
Its very useful to be able to browse the whole filesystem, something the built-in file manager cannot do (and rightly so IMO as only an advanced user should be fiddling outside /home/user).
It really should have details/properties though so that I can select a bunch of files and see how large they are. That is something I consider standard for a file manager. Open With would also be very useful for forcing opening a file with a different application to the default.
Also like others have mentioned, there are issues with rename which just instantly closes the application without warning.
My dream functions would be bluetooth file transfer and possibly scp (I say possibly as gFTP is pretty usable).
Can we add function to show file extension and renaming them as well?
When I try to rename files through it the program crashes. This happens always. Also a possibility to show hidden files and folders would be a nice addition.
When I want to MOVE a file from internal storage to the external storage, it is not possible!
I would like to see some improvements in the UI,the rest works fine. We really need a better file manager :).
"Settings -> View icons" doesn't show filenames, it just show icons, so you don't know what file to choose. I think that people would wait to see the filenames too.
UI is really cluttered due to how things fit. Not very finger friendly.
Probably the place GPE Filemanager could fit is as non-userfriendly file browser (as in, doesn't hide the regular file system)
I ported it to Fremantle for completeness and have no plans to make it finger-friendly. Is there really a need for GPE Filemanager on the tablet? How do you use it? What is it useful for that the built in file manager doesn't do?
If people think it is useful I could look into making it more finger friendly.
does what its N8x0 counterpart does.
would love to see it become finger-friendly
app optified.
