Comments:
Thanks for the comment, Thomas. I have implemented most of those changes in 0.5-8, which will shortly be in extras-testing.
Specifically, I changed the sort to be by date (which is override-able), there is a default title if it is left blank, and zeros do not show in the time remaining field.
Installed and works as advertised. +1
The descriptive text at the beginning is helpful to get started. Parts of the text that have 0 as number should be automatically hidden (e.g. instead of "52 weeks 0 days 0 hours 5 mins left" write "52 weeks 5 mins left"). Using singular for parts where the number is "1" would be nice, but is not a must (and would complicate the "Translate" dialog).
I could not find a product for this on bugs.maemo.org, where I would have filed this feature request:
It should be possible to specify the event as timedelta from now (i.e. add a event "in 45 minutes" and have the program figure out when that is - probably only for short-term events, so having hours, minutes and seconds should be fine).
Oh, and two more things I just noticed:
Multiple events should probably be automatically sorted by date by default.
Adding events without a name/title is possible - maybe you want to require that field or provide a default title, such as the date as string (e.g. "December 24th 2009").
Again, no show stoppers :)
Good point about the update interval. Currently if you select 0, it will update every time you switch focus to that desktop and that is it. Probably a good option for people with only far-off events.
It is a nice little widget, but I can't make up my mind on the use. Am I supposed to have long or short term items on it? I suppose long, because the time options are large units.
It's now been telling me for a few days how long it is till the summit. And that's nice. Now I can panic on the open issues.
Seems to be ok on battery and processor, but the update interval needs to be sensible. 1 minute only works for boiling eggs. For an event two weeks away I don't want a minute countdown.
