BurgerSpace 1.8.3-10

Avoid evil foodstuffs and make burgers This is a clone of the classic game "BurgerTime". In it, you play the part of a chef who must create burgers by stepping repeatedly on the ingredients until they fall into place. And to make things more complicated, you also must avoid evil animate food items while performing this task, with nothing but your trusty pepper shaker to protect you.

Ok, I have a forthcoming 1.8.3-15 version which fixes many of the issues mentioned here. It has:

  • FULLSCREEN! and looks great :) All is visible.

  • Keymap for everyone! Using U,H,M,K + SPACE for up, left, down, right, and pepper.

  • The instructions are updated and visible in fullscreen mode.

  • Bugtracker should be in place today.

Still to be fixed:

  • The cursor appears, but you can tap it away. This is ugly cosmetic, but not sure what to do about it yet.

  • Pause in background. Really not sure about that one. Will see.

Upstream was most helpful :)

@Mikko Vartiainen:

  • Do you have a foto or info about a non-english N900 keyboard? Do they not have up/down arrow? I would find that very odd and break all sorts of other stuff if those keys were gone!

  • Bugtracker: a BurgerSpace product has been applied for bugs.maemo.org. Waiting on andre__ It will appear here: https://bugs.maemo.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=BurgerSpace

  • Mouse cursor is (sometimes?) visible, yes. Added to buglist.

  • I'll investigate pausing when in the background. I hadn't thought of that. Any hints appreciated.

Thanks!

  • No up/down for non-english keyboards (not playable)
  • No bug tracker
  • Mouse cursor is visible
  • I would expect game to pause when backgrounded
  • As previously said part of the screen is not visible

  • Fixed Bug-tracker & applied for Product in bugs.maemo.org (forthcoming version).

  • The screen is cropped and the "spacebar" instructions are cropped off, along with the completed burgers.

* There is a --full-screen mode, but it croaks on N900 with:

burgerspace: engine init error: video mode not available

Full screen mode may need 672 x 520... Hmm.

  • I contacted upstream about the --full-screen issue to see if he had any ideas.

  • I will be removing an unneeded icon.

  • The keymapping is hard-coded in C, except for being able to throw pepper by using Z instead of ctrl, which is a command-line option. Not sure how to handle that with non-english keyboards.

Thanks for the feedback! Most appreciated.

Is there up/down keys for non-english keyboard layouts?

  • Bug-tracker missing in package-desc/app
  • No clear instructions on how to start/play the game. It took some trial and error to figure out the 'Space' key. Perhaps this instruction was chopped off (http://bit.ly/6BHrsw)
  • Full-screen mode would be desirable. This may address the text chop-off issue.
