asterisk 1.6.2.1-1
Free Software Private Branch Exchange (PBX)
Asterisk is a Free Software PBX and telephony toolkit. It is, in a
sense, middleware between Internet and telephony channels on the bottom,
and Internet and telephony applications at the top.
Asterisk can be used with Voice over IP (SIP, H.323, IAX and more) standards.
This is the main package that includes the Asterisk daemon and most channel
drivers and applications.

Comments:
Don't forget also to apply the CLI icon in next version: http://wiki.maemo.org/Extras-testing/Command_line_applications
By the way, it occupies about 3MB in rootfs, so I assume that some of those libraries are not properly optified.
You should write "command line only" in description;
Your packages install a lot of things under usr/share/doc and /man, but they are automatically docpurged, so the end-users won't know how to use the app. This can't go to Extras since it lacks of documentations and istructions.
Thanks for the good suggestions. I opened bug reports for both issues so they don't get lost.

Jeff, why is asterisk-config and asterisk-sounds-main in the user/* section (therefore needlessly visible in the Application Manager), if Asterisk itself depends on those anyway? It makes no sense to clutter the Application Manager, let alone vote for three separate packages.
I would also appreciate if you could append "(command-line only)" to XB-Maemo-Display-Name, like MPlayer does. No GUI is a big deal for normal users, so they need to be warned.
Start asterisk by clicking on the icon and call via SIP: default@localhost
You can also call it by default@[IP], such as: default@192.168.1.100
The standard asterisk config files and sounds are all there. No GUI.
