I have problem with this plugin with N900 and my Ubuntu Karmic Koala laptop. Both seem to have connection problems while haze plugin works flawlesly.

Have to agree with some of the above comments regarding the contacts. app imports all contacts and then when i tried to delete unwanted contacts but next time i opened up contacts they all re-appeared.

Some contacts dont have the "MSN IM" in the contact details, which means there is no way to start a conversation with them (or atleast I cant find it). It is still possible to recive IMs from those contacts.

I tried to put thumbs down, but it was'nt so easy with N900. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to fix vote so no can do.

Main problem with this applet is that when my contacts are online I've no way to contact them. When they are offline then msn connection can be seen in contact.

Although I have been able to connect once or twice, 95% of the time I am unable to connect to the service.

MSN buttons randomly disappear from contacts, disabling and re-enabling the account seems to help.

Battery usage seems to be quite high.

Received messages get lost sometimes, i.e. someone has verifiably sent you a message but you receive no notification and the message is nowhere to be seen. Unsure whether this is a bug in the plugin or a network problem.

I'm giving it a -1 because I experienced a vast amount of problems with butterfly. 1. With a perfect internet connection butterfly will not always connect to the MSN server. Changing the type of connection didn't solved the problem. 2. Random spamaddresses and conversations has been popping up while using butterfly. 3. Battery life while keeping it online is a complete drama. My usual standby time was around 20 hours with some light use. When keeping online with a full bar 3G connection it was down to 3 hours. This is nowhere near acceptable for me. 4. Huge show stopper: When I see my contacts online in my contacts list I can open the contact but the icon to start a conversation disappears. This renders Butterfly completely useless for me.

Tried this on a N900. The idea of how it's supposed to work is very cool, but there are a few serious problems. For example, if the connection to MSN is lost (eg. logging in elsewhere) it can't reconnect and the device needs to be rebooted. Also, it downloaded the contacts once, and they come back with each reboot every time, although I've deleted them from both the phone and the server. I can't have all those contacts cluttering up the phone address book, so unfortunately I cannot use this plugin until it's fixed. Shame. because it would be very useful otherwise.

Right now it doesn't seem fit for maemo extras. Many contacts don't get the MSN messenger detail to show up in the contact overview (although it is usually there when you edit the contact). Many contacts get a "No Name" name, even though they do have a name defined.

I would like somekind of error log if it can't log in. I had a situation that it didn't connect to msn, had to reboot and then it connected.

Also a description and a display name would be nice.

when i was trying it, until a week ago, i found it profoundly irritating that msn spam kept coming. so, it would be very useful with a setting to only allow messages from people from the contact list.

This package fails to install for me: account-plugin-butterfly: Depends: liblongcat0 (= 0.2) but 0.3 is to be installed

1 suffix doesn't bother me, though deleting contacts come back after a while. Needs XB-Maemo-Icon-26 (48px image - perhaps the butterfly), XB-Maemo-Display-Name and a more user-focused description. So, although almost ready from a technical PoV, needs to be a more user-friendly package to get a +1.

I can see my MSN addresses in the Adressbook and it works great here.

It works, but it isn't working very well. Random spam addresses show up in my contacts, it gets frequent Network Errors, etc, etc,...

While it technically works, there are too many issues going on here to give it a +1 at the moment. MSN does not show up on contact cards in general. When they do, they all have a #(number) after it which causes various other issues, all of which I've talked to the maintainers about and they are supposedly working on fixing.
