mactrashblock 0.7.1

Block Mac OS X from writing cruft to internal eMMC over USB. Mac OS X by default writes a bunch of hidden metadata to any USB drive it uses to folders .fseventsd/ and .Spotlight-V100, as well as ._[file] files for all files. It also tends to move all files you delete on the USB drive into a hidden folder called .Trashes. This package removes those folders, then makes the files .metadata_never_index, .Trashes, and .fseventsd/no_log, which stops Mac OS X from doing all of that. Uninstalling this deletes those files, which reenables default behavior. The script used is also installed so that it can be used manually on other partitions aside from the internal mass storage.

Changes

VersionChangesAuthorDate
0.7.1 * Made the prerm script call mactrashblock -d instead of a plain rm (possible because 0.7's change also made mactrashblock's deletion clean up the blocking files too).Alexander Kozhevnikov2013-09-12 01:27 UTC
