backupmenu 0.62-1
BackupMenu is a bootloader-based OS image backup tool.
BackupMenu can backup images of your N900's OS and programs to the SD card or eMMC(MyDocs)
Current images are .tar archives, and so can have parts restored from inside maemo - Savegames for instance.
Also provides extra tools, including FSCK and USB Mass Storage access.

Thanks again. Would it make you laugh if I had been convinced that that particular switch was the back release catch? I've had the device 9 months and never had a clue. duh. sorry... ..and now that I have a brain, this utility is incredibly useful. I had a degree of trouble restoring a handset post-repair. This looks like to be the best way to a complete restore.
Close the keyboard before booting?
Hold switch is on the right side....
Very useful [probably]... but how do I boot into maemo? At the moment the device is cycling from BackupMenu and back... What is the N900 Hold Switch mentioned in the menu? How do I boot into maemo with BackupMenu???
